PHILIPPE Clement believes his side showed character and quality as they defeated Dundee United 3-1 this afternoon.
Goals from Mohamed Diomande, Robin Propper and Cyriel Dessers saw the Light Blues come from behind to win comfortably at Tannadice in the Scottish Premiership.
Speaking to RangersTV at full-time Clement said: “It was well-deserved, it is a really hard place to come and Dundee United deserve to be in third position with what they have been doing in the last couple of months.
“It is a hard place to come and to win, especially after a European game, so I am very positive about what the team showed today, they showed a lot of character and a lot of quality.
“There is a resilience there, like it was against Man United also, everybody believes we can come back, they stick to the plan, they don't start to rush things like a few months ago and that we keep on doing our football and like this we get the well-deserved points with a very strong second-half.
“That is part of the journey to get experience together, to learn out of it, we were also missing ten players today, but everybody stepped up. Young guys came in, they did their job so there’s a lot of positives out of this game. We can stop talking then about the away games where we cannot do it, but we need to repeat this in the next couple of away games and play with this mentality and with the quality on the ball also to make goals like today.”
A negative point for Rangers was the late sending off for Mohamed Diomande after a coming together with Kevin Holt.
On the incident, Clement added: “I didn't see it live but I saw it now afterwards in images it is clear we need to appeal this. I don't understand, I understand in the emotions and it going fast in the game that you make a decision on the pitch that is the wrong one. VAR asked the referee to come to the screen so that is clear that they don't agree with it and they still stick to the opinion.
“It is clear that we as a club need to appeal this because if you give a red card for this then in every game there are three or four red cards.”
