For many, a loan move has presented an opportunity to gain some valuable minutes on the pitch, as several players made their first strides into senior football.
Here’s a review of how those players fared across the campaign.
Megan Bell – Hearts
Megan made the temporary switch to the Jambos in January having been involved in Jo Potter’s Gers side in the first half of the campaign.
Having made her return to full fitness and the opportunity to play regular first-team football she joined up with Eva Olid’s side as the capital club claimed a fourth place finish in the SWPL.
She made her first appearance for the club in a 1-0 win over fellow Edinburgh side Spartans before finding the back of the net as she opened the scoring in a 5-0 rout over Montrose on February 18, with her second strike coming in a derby win over Hibs last month.
The Jambos enjoyed another consistent campaign overall, as they reached the Scottish Cup final for the first time in their history before losing to eventual winners Rangers at Hampden Stadium in the final match of the campaign.

Jenna Ferguson – Partick Thistle
Jenna enjoyed a season out on loan for the first time in her career as she helped Partick Thistle achieve a top-six finish for the second season running.
The young defender, who made her debut for the Light Blues towards the end of last season, racked up 25 appearances in total as she gained valuable experience in top-flight senior football.
Brian Graham’s side also reached the Sky Sports Cup final for the first time in their history back in March as they were impressive performers throughout.
The centre-back also gained minutes on the international front across the campaign, playing for Scotland at Under-19s level with her progression in the senior game in 2023/24 only going to enhance her as a player.

Megan Cunningham – Partick Thistle
Megan returned to Thistle for a second spell as the goalkeeper spent the 2023/24 with the fellow SWPL side.
Racking up over 20 appearances for the Jags her experience between the posts was vital in helping them claim a top-six finish as the Glasgow side enjoyed an impressive campaign overall.
The 28-year-old kept five clean sheets in the league throughout, whilst her side also reached their first ever cup final before they were beaten at Tynecastle Park.

Kayla Jardine – Motherwell
Kayla spent the season with Paul Brownlie’s side having made the loan switch for the entire campaign having spent the second half of last season at the top-flight side.
The winger enjoyed an impressive spell at the club racking up double figures for goals and assists combined as they finished off the season in style.
The North Lanarkshire side went on an 11-match unbeaten run at the end of the campaign after missing out on a top-six finish, which included nine wins in the process.
She opened her scoring account for her team in a 6-0 win over Dundee United in October before going on to also rack up 20 plus appearances, whilst also representing her country on the international front at Under-19s level.

Laura Berry – Motherwell
Laura enjoyed a fantastic six-month spell with Motherwell as she continued an impressive rise in a first professional contract in senior football.
The youngster agreed pro terms with the Gers in July 2023 before featuring for the side in the first half of the campaign before making the move to gain further experience.
Indeed, the forward hit the ground running straight away with a goal on her debut before going on to net on a further eight occasions in just 12 appearances overall.
Her form also saw her named as the youngest ever player to win the SWPL player of the month award as she claimed the accolade at just 16-years-old in April for her showings.

Summer Laird – Spartans
Summer spent the season on loan at the Edinburgh club as they finished the season in tenth place in the SWPL table.
The young defender gained experience in Scotland’s top-flight racking up a handful of appearances as they remained in the division for another campaign.
Another player playing on the youth international level, the centre-back featured for her country in several camps across 2023/24 as she gained a season’s worth of senior football under her belt in the capital.
Spartans also reached the Scottish Cup semi-final in an impressive run in the competition before they were beaten by eventual runners-up Hearts at Hampden.

Mason Clark – Hamilton Academical
Mason also featured in the SWPL throughout the campaign as she racked up 25 appearances for Hamilton Academical.
The midfielder found the back of the net on five occasions whilst also claiming an assist with the side unable to avoid the drop as they prepare for second tier football in the next campaign.
A mainstay in the side, the youngster will be better for the experience as she will be keen to kick on in the new season with the campaign also seeing her represent her country on several occasions at youth level.

Rebecca Taylor – Hamilton Academical
Rebecca was a main feature in the Accies side throughout the first half of the campaign in the league campaign.
She earned several appearances as she enjoyed a run in the team before her season was ended prematurely through injury.
Missing the run-in at the end of the campaign, Bobby Watson’s side was condemned to relegation on the final day of the season after a home defeat to Montrose with the midfielder hopeful of a return to fitness for the start of pre-season.

Lucy Inman – Queen’s Park
Lucy was part of the Queen’s Park squad who enjoyed a fantastic league campaign in 2023/24.
The Spiders claimed the SWPL 2 title as they prepare for football in the top-flight of Scotland in the next campaign after storming to the trophy by 23 points.
The young shot stopper made a handful of appearances between the posts throughout, as she will be hopeful the experiences will stand her in good stead for the future.
