Accessible Travel To Ibrox Stadium

On matchdays, accessing Ibrox Stadium by road requires careful planning due to traffic congestion and specific restrictions.​

Arriving by car from the M8 Motorway

  • Westbound (from Glasgow City Centre): Exit at Junction 24 (Helen Street). ​
  • Eastbound: Exit at Junction 24 (Helen Street) or at Kinning Park to join the M77, then exit at Junction 1 (Dumbreck Road) or turn left onto Seaward Street leading to Paisley Road West. ​ 

Public Transport

Given potential traffic delays and parking limitations, public transport is advisable:​

Subway:

  • Ibrox Subway Station is a short walk (250 yards) from the stadium and has step-free access.
  • Govan Subway Station (0.9 miles from stadium) and St Enoch Station (in city centre, 3 miles from stadium) are accessible for wheelchair-users.
  • There are trains every four minutes (during peak times) and every 8 minutes (during off-peak hours).
  • Park and Ride is available at Kelvinbridge, Bridge Street and Shields Road subway stations.

Bus Services: 

Routes 9, 9A, 10, and 38 from Union Street near Glasgow Central Station stop near the stadium. ​ 

 First Bus - Accessibility 
First Bus services operating in Glasgow are accessible and support a range of passenger needs:

  • Wheelchair Access: All buses are low-floor and equipped with ramps. Each vehicle includes a designated wheelchair space (one per bus), which has priority over other users.
  • Assistance Animals: All recognised assistance animals, including guide and hearing dogs, travel free of charge.
  • Mobility Scooters: 'Class 2' scooters (within specific size limits) are permitted with a valid permit for travel.
  • Visually Impaired Passengers: In line with the RNIB Charter, drivers will announce routes and stop to offer information, even if the service is full.
  • Journey Assistance Cards: Available for those requiring discreet assistance (e.g. extra boarding time or communication support). These can be shown to the driver in print or on a phone.
  • Pushchairs and Buggies: Permitted on board and must be secured in the designated buggy zone. May be required to fold if space is needed for a wheelchair user.
  • Folding Bicycles: Accepted if folded and safely stored without obstructing access.

Matchday Restrictions

Be aware that Edmiston Drive, in front of the stadium, closes 90 minutes before kick-off and at least 30 minutes after the match ends. ​

Accessible Parking

206 spaces are allocated to disabled supporters who have completed a Reasonable Adjustment Form. Permits are issued by Rangers FC by the Disability Matters Department. 

Locations include:

  • Albion Car Park
  • Broomloan Stand Car Park
  • Mafeking Street Car Park
  • Ibrox Suite Car Park
  • Argyle House Car Park

Permits are intended for the named disabled Season Ticket holder only, who must travel in the vehicle to the match for the permit to be valid.

There is currently a waiting list for wheelchair-user season tickets.

Approaching the Stadium as a Pedestrian

Designated accessible routes ("Blue Routes") are clearly marked to help wheelchair users and those with mobility barriers avoid high-traffic areas. Stewards and signage are in place to assist on arrival.
