The 16-year-old made his return from a lengthy injury lay-off earlier this month and made his second start of the campaign in Friday evening’s Scottish Youth Cup victory over Dundee United.
It has been a considerable road back for the teenager who sustained his injury not long after making his senior debut on the final day of last season away to Falkirk.
Speaking to RangersTV after the triumph on Tayside, Scally said of his first-team involvement: “It's really good. I speak with James quite frequently on what he does and what I can use in my game.
“We're both quite similar players, so both he and Tuur push me, and I hopefully try and push them.
“But the main thing for me is just go and train, see how I am, get on with the group and just keep going.
“I've been out a long time. There are obviously a lot of challenges, both mentally and physically.
“I'm just coming back now, and I think that's me nearly up to speed. I just need to keep going.
“It's obviously hard to take, but that's part of football. That's what happens.
“It’s my job to keep going, and that's what I've been doing. I can't really ask more of myself today.
“[The staff] have been excellent with me. Jonny [Skinner] and Sam [Harrison] are the physios who have been taking me. I can't ask more of them.
“They've been perfect with me and helped me with everything. They’ve made sure I'm alright, went for walks, and done my rehab properly.
“It's been really good to be back, and I'm just happy to be back again.”
Scally played an hour in his second game back on Friday evening and was withdrawn just before the young Gers added their second of the game against Dundee United.
The Tangerines fought back to force the contest to a deciding penalty shootout, but it was the Gers who scored their full complement of spot-kicks to seal their place in the next round.
On the side’s performance ahead of Wednesday’s UEFA Youth League second round first-leg clash, Scally added: “For the first half, it was real comfortable. We had the majority of the possession, and they didn't really get a sniff.
“The second half, they came out a wee bit more, and their manager has changed how they're setting up.
“They scored two goals, but we still came back, and we still overcame the challenge and beat them in the shootout.
“I'll be buzzing for [the UEFA Youth League]. I can perhaps play 75 or 90 minutes, so that'll be a real test for me.
“Myself and the lads are ready to go on and hopefully get through.”
